Can UA-cam "experts" really make you a UA-cam millionaire? Can they grow your channel to a million subscribers? Maybe. But most likely, it's perseverance, common sense, and luck.

It wasn't JUST a tape measure test: The insane effect of YouTube Shorts.
Переглядів 76 тис.2 роки тому
Shorts version: ua-cam.com/video/BDfX-Fj6ICI/v-deo.html Full video: ua-cam.com/video/z9En0WAsP8A/v-deo.html Script: I recently posted a video on my main channel that I thought was really fun: testing a tape measure to see if letting it snap back into its case would ruin it. What you didn’t know is that I was also testing something else, comparing the performance of a #shorts version of the same...
Are project videos dead? w/Matthias Wandel
Переглядів 33 тис.2 роки тому
For the past few years there’s been a trend in the maker/woodworking space on UA-cam. The decline of project videos…people actually making projects. In the broadest sense, this is a simple supply and demand reaction. Fewer and fewer people watch project videos, so fewer and fewer UA-camrs supply them. Just look through the video tab of any woodworking channel and see the ratio of project videos...
I’ve been making YouTube #Shorts for a year now. What works best?

Check out these guys for awesome shorts: J.J. McCullough ▶ ua-cam.com/users/JJMcCullough Unnecessary Inventions ▶ ua-cam.com/users/UnnecessaryInventions I posted my first UA-cam short on January 6, 2021, not long after the new feature had been launched. And in that time I’ve made 50 of them. Here’s what I’ve noticed.

Dear YouTubers: It's time to stop whining about mean comments
Переглядів 17 тис.2 роки тому
It takes a lot of hard work to be a successful UA-camr, but overall it's a pretty cushy gig that pays pretty well. Some UA-camrs seem to live in a bubble unaware that are people who bust their asses every day in thankless professions just to make ends meet. Mean comments are a minor annoyance and simple to deal with. My main channel, Woodworking for Mere Mortals. ua-cam.com/users/stevinmarin
Are #Shorts ruining YouTube? Or do they serve a purpose?
Переглядів 13 тис.3 роки тому
My main channel: ua-cam.com/users/stevinmarin Shorts spark a heated reaction among some viewers. I think casual UA-cam viewers might not understand what these are and why I post them, so here’s the rundown. The most important thing to know about Shorts is that they don’t replace regular videos. All the longer format videos you enjoy haven’t disappeared and people aren’t going to stop making the...

👍 Still going on in 2024?
I have done three of these things consciously: stopped drinking alcohol (I had already stopped smoking), eat more whole/real food, mostly vegetarian and organic (I do allow myself sweets as a treat because I don’t drink or smoke anymore - it allows me to protect my sobriety) and I do not consume mainstream news. I like what you said about training vs exercising- that is an interesting way to keep the goal in mind rather than getting stuck in a pattern of behavior. Goals can evolve and habits tend to stay in place - they cannot be mutual without actual conscious choices. Congratulations to you and the viewers who have also made positive life choices! 🎉 Thank you for sharing your story.
Most sun screens cause cancer , loaded with toxins when heated by sun it actually causes cancer . This is widely known . Do your research you’ll be shocked . Sun is very good for you everything in moderation !! Intermittent fasting is amazing Cutting out sugars and starches is game changing !! Carnivore diet will change your life give it 3 months and see the amazing results
I think most of Teds plans are just to take your money..... old stuff fraudster.
Is there any advertised on UA-cam that isn’t a scam? I’ve been suckered before with supposedly advanced flash drives. Since then I suspect fraud in most cases. When I look into an ad and apply a little common sense, I find a scam. It’s ridiculous. How about prosecuting such “companies “?
I think there are a lot of opportunities for busting ideas circulated in lifehack videos. You could probably double your youtube income overnight with this one neat trick!
I hear you! I've weighed 220 for at least a decade and I worked really hard during that time with physically demanding work. At the end of the day I'ld unwind with a couple of beers. In the end of my beer drinking days I mysteriously gained 25 Lbs, and my blood glucose went through the roof. One night when drinking my second can of beer I noticed my lips sticking together, so I measured my blood sugar and found the beer had a ton of sugar in it, so I quit and very rapidly lost 25 Lbs. I've been looking at ingredient labels ever since, and one by one over the years I quit eating just about everything because nearly everything has some sort of sugar in it. Starches like dextran, dextrin, and dextrose, corn syrups ( all derived from corn starch ), starches derived from grains can be malted. There is so much sugar in food these days. veggies
I usually hate (really hate.. I mean it...) when people talk so much but this time is different: this is teaching, not talking: explanations and insights (thank you very much 😊).
That was really useful information. I've been watching your channel for some time and have learned so much.
gna make this tomorrow😁😁

Sorry I don't think you look younger I think you look unhealthily thin. When I first saw your change, I was assuming liver cancer or AIDS or something terminal as I think any reasonable person would think to see such a drastic weight loss. Glad to hear you aren't ill! Do us all a favor though and have a hamburger and a ice cream sandwich now and then. :-)
Thanks for this great video! How do you deal with drips on the vertical faces? Even though I try to be careful, I sometimes still have a bit of lacquer that spills over the edge of the horizontal face that I’m coating.
Too bad to hear the project videos aren't performing as they used to. To me, project videos are the next best way to learn skill and technique next to actually being there with the builder. I get people want the 'tips / tricks' or some 'drama' but my favourite thing about wood working is it doesn't need drama to be fulfilling (really, the less 'drama' the better as that usually means wasted wood). Thanks for letting us witness your discussion on this topic.
Does the lacquer make it heat proof and water proof ?
Bravo.👏👍🎖
Will you make a list for 2023?
I hate shorts. Tiktok was all shorts, UA-cam copied, now tiktok went to long format.
Am I the only one wondering why Matthias has lighting bounces and a light stand in that bedroom? just wondering.......
What's the difference here i see none about Walmart selling the same products as Target what is the point of thisa here other then you are loosing sales with your marketing tactics for your own business smh man.
Thanks for all the promotions on Teds Wood-Working and this is called Marketing not Scams And Thanks for Clarifying to your audience about our purposes in the online marketing. And that Click Bank Affiliates are not scammers lol.
It used to be people making videos of their projects which was great, but now it's all sponsored content. If it has sponsored content I refuse to watch it period.
The videos are good, but there are too many entrepreneurs out there selling PDF plans along with the videos, and turning UA-cam into a business market.
You are the scammer here. Ted's never claims to have written all of the plans himself. Top seller for a decade, obviously he has rights to everything in the database.
Thanks for this !! 2024 and I almost got scammed with Ted !!
I miss this channel. I liked the extra insights into your projects and questions from viewers. I know you're really busy though and probably don't have time to post on 2 channels all the time.
& very nice work
Very good
Thanks for the Comments Steve.. Really.. It's true... I let it get to me for a while too.. I put up one video on how I quickly hook up a whole house generator on my channel. It works great, and, the risks are plain to see when you grab the Male to Male Extension cord, and, I have NEVER even remotely had a scare with it. Even waking up at 3am to crank the generator. It all boils down to common sense which is not so common.. I think it go the most views on my Just post something when I feel like it and can do the whole video on my phone without any edits. Never Monitized it. Just giving back to YT... I argued with every comment, and had people obviously helping me. I had Electricians/architects etc, try to argue me down.. Other than "This is only for people who have common sense and know the dangers",,, I think my quick little simple system is the best.. Ha..Ha.. Never lost an argument.. Had fun for the 2-3 months I was getting hammered with the comments.. It was almost like I had some Safety Agency paying people to harass me.. Ha..Ha.. I actually had fun with it. But, to this day, I am not nice to Not Nice People.. If I loose a subscriber due to it,, Oh Well. Same as me standing up for anything I believe in.. But, I agree.. Time is much better spent doing better things.. God Bless.. BTW.. Melanoma... You should do some research on Parasites. You would be surprised on what they can do to a run down body, or can take down a good body.. Yes, we have them in the USA.. Just 3rd world countries? Try looking at where you fresh fruit and veggies come from this winter.. Ha.Ha.. BTW.. Google Advanced Site Search for Ivermectin + Cancer on the www.Nih.gov and look at the hundreds of hits you will get.. Ivermectin/Hydroxichloroquine are both "Anti-Parasitic", but, parasites are not the easy things to get rid of and they stay alive in the body for 10+ years. Search for my Rumble Channel. "Hillbillydoc" and look at the last 2 videos I posted.. Not sure if you know what has been going on since 2020 and before, but, get ready for a mind blower.. Primer.. mRNA=Venoms.. Don't let it shock you.. More than enough proof out there on it. World Wide! God Bless and Good Luck.. I am just getting to the point I wanted to Focus on my UA-cam channel for once, professionally.. I hate to see what is going on with YT.. I saw your videos on it. Shorts/Longs, etc.. I wanted to use YT to get exposure to move some other products and share my Woodworking/Metalworking and other sills with people.. I'm still going to give it a shot, but, I have other Revenue streams I will work on at the same time, not to rely on YT, but,, hopefully get to use it.. I'll be doing shorts to get things moving.. Thanks for the tip..
danke schon - Litauen
The guy on the help me with my wood work blue prints on the computer is gpoing to be busy. Lol. Thanks for the video.
Almost fell to it , i was suspect that weird website was been generated , i know everytime good price and promises are ever scams . That bank website was too weird because wasn’t affiliate to the website so i knew coulded be a clone website to steal datas
I can get behind these having done most. Haven’t died my hair yet though! No need as yet and I’ll probably shave at that point. Good work fella!
How long does the Minwax finishing compound last??? Months, years? Does the finish compound yellow?
Steve, in general I like your videos. I didn't even make it 5 seconds into this one before I gave it a like. A Million Ways to Die in the West is one of my favorite comedies so opening up with that recommendation gets a like from me!
Just got done useing polycrylic on cedar and i forgot to add a small trim to keep things from moving. Would titebond hold 2 pieces of wood thats been polycrylicd? Or 1 has and the other hasnt?
One fact is demographic of UA-cam has been shifted. Another fact is UA-cam algorithm is not that smart. My top interest is all kind of manufacturing, DIY and professional, but that is not what I am being suggested by UA-cam
People watch for two reasons-- entertainment or information. The market for informative project videos is saturated and declining but perhaps an entertainment focused project video would do better. Entertainment can come in many forms-- the content itself, the editing, the commentary, silly stuff, unexpected things, drama, tension, controversy, doing something the "wrong way", doing something "unsafe", or just something interesting or novel etc. All the tips/tricks/hacks videos do well because people are looking to glean something useful from them.
Great advice, Steve. Thank you
If I could have my ears reconstructed I’d have them rebuilt closer to my head, so that my pencil didn’t keep falling out!
Thank you for all your hard work, making the videos and sharing your experience with us, you teach very well!
Whoa! I almost fell for this and looked up reviews. I just realized you posted this 11 years ago! Thank you for your video.
I like to see all the old shows i have a lot a fun
Oh my freaking god, thank you so much! Your video helped me get a gorgeous finish to a small antique table that i thought id never be able to finish!
Steve! Long time fan. Your intelligence, mindset and public learning journey really inspire me. Over the years, I think you gave me much more positive impulses than I noticed. Real example. Powerful. Thank you!!
I hit the like button for the very first time 10 years ago on this video.
I was dumb enough to buy this program. They offered one access to custom plans. I wanted a plan that they showed for a settee with a cooler in the middle. However there were no plans for this unit. I requested plans for it 4 months ago and i keep getting messages saying they have sent the request to their "shop" and they are working on it. I obviously wasted my money on this. Wish I would have seen your video before hand.
You look great Steve. I am also doing intermitent fasting. I lost 30 pounds. And I also follow Jeff Cavalere at Athlean-X. His supplements are great. Keep it up!
Cutting down on carbs has helped me lose some weight. Carbs give you a false sense of hunger creating the munchies. I quit snacking as much when I cut back on carbs, thus don't eat as much and lose weight. I have been slightly overweight several times in my life and the thing I always notice is that when I eat better, it takes about two weeks before I notice any weight loss and then I make progress every week for a while until my body catches up to the new amount of calories I consume.
Sage advice. I've just recently found your channel while looking to build some outdoor chairs. Surprised I haven't seen you before. Your experience in life, and wood working, is invaluable and I thank you.
